This week, we talked about how video goes viral. I am
so amazed on how those videos go viral. It has an exponential growth suddenly.
I have watched some of the viral video too such as Gangnam Style and etc. For
that type of music video, I have no idea why I would play it over and over
again. I really agree to the Ted talk. The videos go viral because we do not
just enjoy it now, we participate. This is why the video goes viral. We try to
edit it, share it and make fun of it.
We have also talked about social media and news.
I have a thought on that. Nowadays everyone can be a journalist. For example, a
picture of a car accident can be on Facebook or Instagram faster than the
ambulance comes. Good thing is that we will be able to receive the news more
quickly and easily. However, we sacrifice our privacy and the accuracy of the
news. I really like the example that our professor Dr. Kinghon made, he said”
what if you lost your phone and google crash, then we will use Facebook.” It is
true because when I first came to Hawaii I did not have a phone, I just used
Facebook to contact anyone who are in Hawaii and back in Hong Kong. I reflected
back into those days. I am so grateful for social media which help me to stay
connect with my friends all over the world.
